School Council Minutes April 2022

13th Apr 2022

School Council Meeting 1st  April 2022

  1. Wear own clothes

Several classes said they would like to wear their own clothes more often and  P7A also wanted to show support for the children of Ukraine. So we have combined both suggestions and will have an Ukraine Day on Wednesday 13th April. Everyone (adults too) will try to wear something yellow and/or blue. We will charge £1 per child or £3 for families with 3 or more pupils at our school.

  1. School Dinners

P5 would like to have longer to eat lunch on chip and panini days. Mrs O Kane says we can’t have longer. So to try to speed things up could the younger classes make sure they are in on time and eat quickly? Could P3 and P4 children take their coats and lunch boxes outside with them and not go back to their classrooms?

P1 would like more chicken nuggets. All of the SC would like more too! We discussed that Donna had a budget and that one extra chicken nugget for every child would be over 200 nuggets! SC will speak to Donna and even see if she could get bigger chicken nuggets!

  1. Playgrounds/ Play Equipment/Greenhouse/O Donnell Park

Mrs O Kane has said after the Easter Break we will go back to playing outside at break time all together.

O Donnell will be timetabled for break time.

Lots of classes would like more play equipment and better footballs and basketball nets.

P6 would like to see the younger classes and the older classes mixing more. There also has been more equipment ordered.  School Council loved P6’s idea of sharing Mindfulness with the younger classes. They thought it would be great if the P6 children taught the younger children.

Also Reading Buddies and Playground Buddies will be brought back in Term 3. P7s and P1s will do the Reading Buddies.

P7 pupils will be the Playground Buddies.

The greenhouse can be used by everyone. There’s lots of compost for everyone to use.

We discussed how it would be good to cycle to school but also that it would be very dangerous, plus we have no room or money for a bike rack.

Play Equipment- Could P6 be responsible for tidying away the playground toys each Friday?

  1. Sensory Room/ Fidget Toys

P6 suggested that it would be great if more children could use the sensory room and also have fidget toys. School Council thought this was a good idea but said the sensory room is very small. SC decided that after Easter we would timetable the sensory room and it could be used during break time. Mrs Mc Crum will do this.
