Road Safety Competition Winners

26th Nov 2021
Pupils had a very exciting morning as they received their prizes for the Road Safety Week competition.  Foundation Stage pupils and Key Stage 1 pupils had a colouring competition, and it was very difficult to judge the winners, as the standard was so high.  Prizes were presented by MRF Tyres representative Bernie Donnelly and Magherafelt and District Motor Club were represented by Bridget Averall. Pupils received a variety of prizes including pencils, mugs, hats, and keyrings.  The overall winner in each Key Stage received a ToyMaster Gift Voucher.   Key Stage 2 pupils had to design a poster with a road safety message and again the standard of entries was very high. The children showed their awareness of current issues, and the posters featured a variety of messages including, speed kills, don't drink and drive, be bright, be seen, wear cycling helmets, wear a seatbelt and no mobile phones while driving.   Chairperson of Magherafelt and District Motor Club, Patricia Laverty congratulated the children on their excellent work.  She added that Magherafelt Motor Club are delighted to help spread the road safety message to young people in their district. Mrs Laverty thanked the school staff for their promotion of road safety values as part of the curriculum.  She thanked the sponsors - The Elk and MRF Tyres for their support of this competition.   Principal Mary O Kane congratulated the pupils on their success and expressed her appreciation to the competition sponsors and to Magherafelt and District Motor Club for their continued support of the school.
