P6 celebrate Earth Day

21st Apr 2023

Earth Day is an annual event which takes place on the 22nd April. Master Kelly and his P6 pupils walked the school grounds taking in the beautiful scenery; the trees, the plants and the wildlife. The children talked about the development of plants, the importance of nutrients and how nature provides those for us. New generations of plants even tap into those old roots. The children even noticed how beside nettles were dock leaves, so they realised that some things in nature even compensate for others! Another interesting point of learning for the children was that honey bees don’t like daffodils, they much prefer dandelions! Once the children got back to their classroom they put pen to paper and wrote some wonderful poems in celebration of Earth Day.
