Lavey Centenary Tournament

27th May 2026
St Brigid's Mayogall Celebrate 100 years of Erin's Own Lavey 🟠⚫️

Today we held a tournament to celebrate Lavey's centenary year. Our cluster schools including St John's Swatragh, St Brigid's Tirkane and St Patrick's Glen enjoyed the glorious sunshine today at Lavey club.

The competition was unique as there were 4 trophies across different codes to be won on the day; Boys' Gaelic, Girls' Gaelic, Hurling and Camogie.

The first half of the tournament saw both St Brigid's Mayogall teams reach the football finals. The boys had a great battle with St Patrick's Glen - which they won and were crowned the Boys' Gaelic champions. The girls unfortunately lost out to a strong St Brigid's Tirkane team who won the Girls' Gaelic trophy.

After lunch, the Hurling and Camogie Tournaments began. The sun grew stronger as each team battled to get their way into a final. St Brigid's Mayogall faced St Brigid's Tirkane in the Hurling Final. In a really competitive match St Brigid's Tirkane took the title. In the Camogie final St Patrick's Glen faced an in form St Brigid's Tirkane who made it two out of two in the Girls' competition.

Well done to each school for the level of skill that was shown throughout the tournament today.

Congratulations to our trophy winners on the day.πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†

A special thanks to the referees, those who provided and served lunch, our club chairman Brendan Henry, photographers, decorators, teachers and assistants who all helped the competition to run smoothly.

Also, today we were presented with our new Boys' and Girls' Gaelic jerseys and footballs. They were kindly sponsored by McCanns. Thank you to McCanns for their continued support to our school and our club.
