Children’s Court is in Session!

4th Apr 2023

Primary 7 have enjoyed learning more about Road Safety from PSNI Officer Stuart. He taught the children about Safe Cycling and gave them lots of tips for when they begin their cycling proficiency lessons after the Easter break. Road safety is a huge priority for everyone in St. Brigid’s due to our location on the busy A42 road. We are always looking for innovative ways to educate our families about the dangers of traffic near our school.  Today P7 had the opportunity to be judges in the ‘Children’s Court.’ Police Officers stopped speeding drivers in the 30mph zone outside our school and these drivers then had the option to pay the penalty of face the Children’s Court. Seven of those detected speeding chose to appear before the pupils to plead their case. The children questioned the defendants and these drivers commented that it made them really think about their actions. The drivers then went on their way with a renewed determination to obey speed limits.

Thank you to all the PSNI officers who worked with the children in St. Brigid’s P.S today. And to everyone who drives on the Mayogall Road, we say, “Kill your speed, not a child!”
