St Brigid's Primary School, Moyagall

Celebrating 50 Years of St Brigid's PS Mayogall

3rd Jul 2023

On Thursday 29th June, Parish Priest and School Trustee, Fr Eamon Graham celebrated the 50th Anniversary Mass for St Brigid's Primary School. Mass was attended by past and present Governors, Staff, Parents and Pupils. It was a very moving occasion and a chance to celebrate all the successes of the past 50 years whilst remembering those whom we have lost from our lives.

School staff and pupils participated in the Liturgy and the celebration was greatly enhanced by the fabulous school choir.  Current principal, Mrs Mary O'Kane, spoke of the need for the school estate to be extended as an immediate priority, since the children deserved a high quality school building to meet the needs of 21st century education. She spoke of the high quality governance and the excellent staff at every level within the school. Mrs O'Kane said that what made the school unique was the amazing support of the people of Lavey - as individuals, through the church and by Erin's Own GAC.

Following Mass there were light refreshments in school provided by school cook Donna Marron and her team.

Those present had an opportunity to visit the classrooms and enjoy the memorabilia - with photographs of life in Mayogall throughout the past 50 years.
