Norovirus Outbreak

29th Nov 2019

🛑 URGENT 🛑

Parents, as you are aware a number of schools have had to close for deep clean following outbreaks the NOROVIRUS.

Norovirus also called the 'winter vomiting bug' is a stomach bug that causes vomiting and diarrhoea. Some people also have a slight fever or headaches.
Norovirus is highly contagious so spreads easily in environments such as schools.

In St. Brigid's we have pupils and staff members who are immuno suppressed and at great medical risk from being infected.

In school today we have a number of pupils complaining of cramps in their tummy and repeated bouts of diarrhoea.

PLEASE DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD TO SCHOOL IF THEY HAVE ANY OF THE NOROVIRUS SYMPTOMS.
They should stay at home for 48hours following any of the winter vomiting symptoms.

The safety and well-being of all our children is paramount. We ask for your cooperation in stopping the spread of this virus
